Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay a deposit ?
No
Do I have to show my identity card ?
Yes, and we also ask you to sign a contract, which you will find here.
Can I leave right from Gent with the Waw ?
Of course you can. Our workshop is near to a pleasant road leaving the city, that will offer you a fantastic fast test track. The towpaths along the river Schelde bring you to Oudenaarde or Dendermonde (Antwerpen, Aalst, Mechelen), Kortrijk and Brugge can be reached as well by the towpath cycling highway network.
Can I transport the Waw ?
A complete WAW fits in a big van.
If nose and tail are taken off, it fits in a monovolume or a small van (Partner, Berlingo,…)
If nose, tail and rear wheel are taken off, it fits in an estate car. (Nose can be put on the passenger seat.)
We transported the Waw once in a Citroën BX, without nose however.

What happens if someone runs into the Waw ?
Ask police assistance. The insurance company of the car driver pays for the damage on the Waw. You only need to inform your insurance agency.
What happens if I cause any damage ?
Damage to others is insured by your insurance.
Damage to the Waw is often not insured.
Unfortunately we did not find an omnium insurance for the Waw rental.
Costs : scratches will be repaired for free by Fietser.be, replacement of broken parts must be paid.
What is the risk of causing damages to the Waw ?
Tip over
Cause: driving too fast in bends
Consequence : scratches, maybe damage to lights and rear view mirror
How to avoid ? Get acquinted with the steering of the Waw and drive a bit slower when taking bends.
Collision
Cause: wrong estimation of dimensions and speed
Consequence : you are protected, but there will be structural damage to the Waw
How to avoid? Drive carefully!
Incorrect changing of the gears
Cause: If you are changing gears while standing still and push the Waw backwards, you break the gearing system.
Consequence: broken derailleur
How to avoid ? Only change gears while pedalling. Check before pushing the Waw backwards if derailleur is OK by pedalling backwards.
Vandalism
Cause: a cruel whim of fate : the combination of a bad character and a (good !) Waw on a bad moment at a bad place .
Consequence : scratches, broken or stolen lighting, speedometer, visor
How to avoid? Put a good visible lock at the front wheel, close the hood and visor. Don't leave the Waw unattended for too long.
